Weekend Blues !

Darn it ! Losing two out of three games to the much hated rivals to the north, the Los Angeles Dodgers did not sit well with me. Friday night’s game where Trevor blew a save really set the tone for the entire weekend. The two plays that drove me nuts, was the one where Padres’ 1B Adrian Gonzalez had the runner out at second and Adrian hesitated to throw the ball, settling for the safe out and failed to get the out. I swear the baseball gods are not on our side that night as Padres’ CF Mike Cameron misjudges at drive hit to center and it flew over his head for a stand-up double while the winning runs scored.

On Saturday night, in the beginning it felt like another disappointing evening as the Dodgers got out to a 2-0 lead. Padres’ RHP Greg Maddux was struggling initially, though Greg did manage to settle down and breeze through the order by retiring 12 batters in a row. The Padres’ manufactured 3 runs, all in one inning and held onto the victory as RHP Trevor Hoffman picked up the save. The evening did not end without another Padres mental lapse. As C Rob Bowen had BUNTED with runners on 3rd and 1st with one out. Needless to say, Mike Cameron got hanged up between 3rd and Home, eventually caught as the 2nd out of the Inning while Kevin Kouzmanoff was between 2nd and 3rd base, eventually he got caught as the 3rd and final out of the Inning. These little mental lapses are indicating that they are over-trying or not mentally into the game. Which ever is the case, the Padres better snap out of this funk.

The endless game or so it appeared to be on Sunday, gawd ! 17 Innings and over 5 hrs. Those **** Dodgers won the game as the Padres had them on the ropes on the bottom of the 17th Inning. Maybe it’s the blues of the first month, but the Padres haven’t been the same after Friday Night’s game. So far the Dodgers have won 4 out of 6 games against the Padres and it’s about time we start to take some action and win some games.

The Nationals are coming into town and Jake "Gunslinger" Peavy is going to start off the series for the Padres. It’s time for a winning streak and separate us from the others in the division to make things more interesting, atleast exciting. Let’s Go Padres !!
