Padres Executives out and about

WinfieldPadres Vice President Dave Winfield along with Met’s GM Omar Minaya, former Giants and Cubs Manager Dusty Baker were a few among the 22 members that are spending time in West Africa, promoting baseball. Perhaps in the mid-range term of 5-6 years there will be some talent rising through the minor league ranks for the Padres, coming from West Africa. This is definitely a start and untapped resource so far and am sure Dave Winfield will return with some enlightening news regarding the potential talent in West Africa.

Now, back to the countryside. Padres General Manager Kevin Towers spent an evening scouting high school talent at MLB Urban Youth Baseball Academy in Compton, California. TowersMost of the talent is not draft eligible, though it will give GM’s and Scouts the ability to monitor their progress throughout their high school eligibility. I am sure KT got his eye on a few prospects as he has done a tremendous job in evaluating talent throughout his GM tenure with the Padres. Way to go KT !

Stay tuned for more Padres news……
